Simon Morris with Eugene Hansen and Kyle Jenkins
Three Orange Lines
June/July 2004

Simon Morris’ painting practice embraces object-based paintings, site responsive wall draw¬ing, installation, and architectural collaborations. The conceptual basis for his work comes from the history of abstraction and the relationship between abstraction and the everyday. He is a Senior Lecturer at Massey University’s School of Fine Arts, Wellington, New Zealand.

Eugene Hansen a.k.a vjRex (Ngati Mahuta, Ngati Maniapoto) is interested in how contemporary modes of cultural production and roles present in club culture like producer/director, DJ and VJ, can be used to inform contemporary art practice. He was co-director of SHOW and is a Senior Lecturer at Massey University School of Fine Arts, Wellington, New Zealand.

Kyle Jenkins is one of several multidisciplinary geometric abstractionists based in Melbourne who make site-specific, architectonic work. Jenkins has exhibited alongside these artists as well as working collaboratively on projects. In his site specific work he is interested in how the experience of art is affected by the physical and aesthetic characteristics of the gallery space.
